Reboot?

Anyone that has a computer is very familiar with the word – reboot. When something goes awry with your computer at work, the first thing the IT department asks you to do is to reboot the computer. This simple action, although annoying, works almost all the time to get things going again.

Most of us have had our daily routines interrupted with the restrictions of COVID. I have found that although it has been different, it has given me an opportunity to slow down and really examine every aspect of my life. Sometimes routines can become a liability to growth before you even realize it. Just going through the motions with never changing can cause us to miss opportunities because we are blindly performing our normal routines.

I agree with the phrase “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.” However, I have learned as each day passes, change is constantly happening. Sometimes there are better ways to achieve goals in a more efficient manner. No one really likes change, but it is a necessity in life to continue to grow into the best person you can be.

Slowing down the pace during this quarantine has helped me connect more with my family, especially on the weekends. We visit more and are realizing just how much more relaxed we feel. Although I do miss the freedom of being able to go anywhere at any time, this has really been an eye opener of what I do with my time.

This way of life will be ending soon and we will return to “normal.” I am certain that my new normal will look much different as I will continue some of the new habits and routines I have established. COVID 19 has forced all of us to reboot but sometimes a forced action produces much needed change.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
